Online Mental Health First Aid

The Online Mental Health First Aid Course was developed by MHFA England in 2020 to enable us to continue to reach people with this important training throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. However it has proven popular and effective, and a convenient and flexible option which many have found fits well around their commitments.

The course has the same learning outcomes as the two day Mental Health First Aid course, but is designed differently to allow sessions to be delivered over a number of days or weeks if required. (This may be easier to fit into your schedule – and also avoids “zoom-fatigue”!)

The course is a mix of independent learning activities – reading, videos, online exercises, and four live sessions delivered via Zoom through MHFA England’s Online Learning Hub – (Best accessed via Google Chrome – check whether your set up is suitable for the course https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115002262083-Joining-a-Zoom-test-meeting)

You will learn about stress, mental health, anxiety and depression, suicide, self harm, eating disorders, psychosis and more. You will learn the Mental Health First Aid Action plan – easy to remember steps to follow when supporting someone who is experiencing mental distress or crisis.

You will receive your course materials to your door prior to the course so you can complete your first set of independent learning before the first live session with your MHFA England Instructor Member (Sarah Long). After completion of the full course, you will receive an e-certificate and be an accredited Mental Health First Aider.

Bookings for Open Courses can be done on this site or via Eventbrite (while this function is being tested) – contact me to check eligibility for discounts, request an invoice to pay by BACS, or to register interest in a course on another set of dates.
